About Spence
Spence Smith is a connector, influencer, and thinker in the
worlds of music, social networking and travel.
Before taking on the role of Artist Relations with Compassion International in 2001, Spence was a 5 time Grammy nominee with the band Big Tent Revival. Big Tent Revival officially came off the road in December of 2000, but you can still catch them playing for their favorite fans through out the country on special occasions. The roles as both artist and artist relations have given him incredible insight into connecting the many facets of the music industry with marketing and the social media.
Over the years, Spence has influenced many up and coming artists by mentoring them through issues of life on the road, marketing ideas, or even balance in family life.
As someone who thinks outside of the normal modes of marketing and reaching an audience, Spence easily transitioned into his role as a digerati, thriving in the world of social media through blogging and the new social networks of the day. Spence says, “I love connecting people to the world of blogging and sharing the benefits with business people and artists. It's the greatest medium of our time and it gives people a chance to have a powerful voice and to influence others. Social Networking, Blogging and Micro-blogging gives fans and consumers a direct connection with what you are about as a business person or artist. It gives you the tools to be relevant and respond quickly to what your consumers and fans are telling you.”
As a result of his many trips and journeys throughout the world,
Spence has learned a thing or two about travel and created a travel
blog called The Crazy Traveler
to help the less traveled person understand the finer points of
traveling. In this blog he shares tips, tricks, steals, and deals for
traveling. getting through airport security, dealing with ticket
agents, renting cars and
hotel room and even gives insight to which foods to NOT eat while traveling.
So what does Spence do for fun? Well, he reads a lot of books, writes a bit, blogs like a mad
man
and trains for triathlons because as he says, “I love being contagious
when it come to sharing my passion for exercise and a healthy
lifestyle. I’ve seen many of my friends
get into running or cycling
and catching the passion for healthy lifestyles that last a lifetime
and I consider that a great accomplishment.”
